    50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

    JULY 21, 1988
    On this your 50th anniverary day,
    You think "How can this be?
    How could the years have passed so fast?
    You still mean the world to me."
    As you look into each other's eyes,
    You still see the love light there.
    As a matter of fact, I think it glows
    More with each new year.
    Thinking back through the years,
    Remember when you first met?
    What started out as friendship then,
    Became the best friendship yet.
    Your hearts entwined and beat as one;
    Your love for each other grew;
    To deny your love, because of your youth,
    Would be a mistake; it's true.
    On Jan. 9th nineteen thirty-eight,
    You were joined as man and wife.
    You knew that together, you would have
    A wonderful and happy life.
    Many plans were made for your future;
    Your life was all before you.
    Some plans came to pass,--- others not,
    But it was all that God gave you.
    Somedays brought happiness, and others sorrow,
    But both brought you closer together.
    With God's help, you were assured
    You would always have each other.

    A nice tribute to your parents. I wonder what advice they would give to the younger generation. Them that had the commitment and strength to build a life of love and memories.

    A very nice tribute. I wrote a 50th anniversary poem for my older brother a while back, which is why I wanted to read the one you wrote here. Moses

    Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
