A Cowardly act (The suicide of a CFO)

Oh why would you do this?
It is a coward's double cross
    And what of your family?
How will they cope with their loss?

    Did you think once,
    Did you think twice
about the people who love you
    paying the highest price?

    Your children knowing Daddy died
    in the basement below
how will the sleep at night?
    What a horrific blow
you dealt to them you cowardly soul!

The rest of us who count our dimes
and try to hold on through desperate times
are the marrow in the spine of this great nation
foregoing the Sunday drive and Summer vacation

But you of little faith and even less hope
with thoughts only of number one
took a shortcut to hell at the end of a rope
    brother, your trouble's just begun.

wow. i have to stop myself in my tracks on a day spent on the internet, drinking redbull, trying to finish a resume, and a fear knocking down my door. i quit my job last week and i've been depressed. and thoughts of suicide would always tickle my fancy. this is good. i'm glad i found this. maybe i was meant to. it really helps. it feels like fate. the world is cruel but i just have to get over it and find the beauty. thank you for this lovely poem.

So glad you got something from it! Suicide is as they say, a permanent solution to a temporary problem...when someone kills themselves they take more than just their own life...take care and God bless you.

WOW!....This seemed very personal. If this is you, boy are you angry and rightfully so.

Your words moved me and I truly shared in the remorse and disenchantment of the moment. One of my favorites. Great work!

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
