A Place in the World
She sat down in the driver's seat, turned on the key, starting the car.
There was much to say
It might take a while , but....
they didn't have to go that far.
She closed her eyes a moment or two
just to gather her thought.
She smiled a few sad smiles,
she knew the words to say.
Her face seemed very grim, as it ought.
Clutching him close she whispered
"Today, I will be leaving you.
I know this hurts your heart
and makes you feel rather blue.
The time has come for you
to go out on your own.
I have tried to teach you what to do
now that you are grown."
She stopped walking and let go of his hand
He began to cry.
She turned and walked away,
"Try to be a big guy."
Looking around with tears in hes eyes,
spied a boy with a familar face,
Joining him in the Kindrgarten line,
he knew he had found his place.
