    A Victim No Longer

     I refuse to feel ashamed!
    I, like many, are one and the same.
    Child abuse, often kept hush,
    happens way too often,
    In fact it has now become sickenly common.
    So many have to live with this pain.
    We also become crushed under the weight,
    of the guilt and the shame.
    I refuse to carry around this load any longer!
    It didnt kill me, so I guess I came out stronger.
    I refuse to keep quiet
    so I'm taking back my voice.
    You can either suffer as a victim
    or you can reclaim your life,
    but in the end its YOUR choice.
    You're either a victim or you're victorious and
    I will not let another have power over me!
    I choose to claim my victory.

    A very powerful write which I can personally relate to as I have been through this myself. Like you said in the poem what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger.I'm glad that you made the choice to not allow it to hold you back from achieving a happy life.Go on shining girl as you have a wonderful talent for poetry and should be proud.     i felt realli touched with thiz one cuz i could relate too it and i waz a child of abuse too but i waz a victim thiz poem gives ppl a voice n thtz pretty kool
