Above the Store

Above the Store

I repent of all I said of her

Like me, she’s only made of dust

And though I feel dissatisfied

The verdict is unjust.

Two ships from foreign ports afar

When fogbound, may collide

It’s hard to tell the source of truth

With no objective guide.

I only know that through such fog

Of communication struggles

My heart feels clearer next to her

Between the times she snuggles.

Relationships are never based

On having your desires

But rather learning how to stoke

Another’s passion fires.

She moves me when she wants me

To signal her to dance

It’s hard to tell who gets to lead

Yet, it’s certain, not by chance.

Just when I think she never minds

On some windswept mental strand

She gestures fond devotion

The way she takes my hand.

All disputatious echoes

Hushed by that brief abyss

Of open lips imparting

Love’s life within her kiss.

She gives me only what she wants

Not always what’s expected

While we both live above the store

Of times when we connected.

So though I think I only know

The trace of where she’s been,

It entertains, this finding out

Of just what love I’m in.

You managed to brilliantly capture one of the many kinds of Love that exist in this crazy, mixed up world. An exquisite taste of one of the many types (or subtypes?) that elude so many.

My, that was beautiful! Love is a journey, and we never really know where we will wind up. Very nicely done Harver! As soon as I can I'll read more!

Thank you for visiting my page and reading a bit. As with love, you give your heart, and take your chances.

Harver, the sensitivity that connects passion with love is well deciphered here. I love the way in which you managed to portrayed willing to all of her desires. It is like being Love's possession while the spirit gently sways in a way that you both desire, never leaving GREAT to chance. A great write, indeed.

This is an amazing write. There is much wisdom here. The 2nd stanza perfectly illustrates how difficult navigating a relationship can be.

TY, TY for your kind puffery. Rest assured, this was far more difficult to live than to read about.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
