Poem Commentary

A hopeful vision of freedom from mortality...

AfterLife

Eighty one years, just a blink of an eye,
in a moment of mortal decease,
the stars, rained down from the heavens above,
crumbling decrepitly at her feet,
an incandescent divine light emerges,
peace befalls the spirit and soul,
engulfing her sorrow, releasing her pain,
from contrived tribulations and woe,
letting go of what was once an existence,
feeling euphoric her heart is serene,
she finds, she is more than just alive in death,
she finds that she is free.

This view of the afterlife reveals much of what I am assuming are your beliefs. The images that you bring forth truly show that death is not the end, but rather a new beginning. Sometimes death is a release from too much suffering in life. My own mother is suffering terribly from arthritis, and hopes to die soon, though I don't want to see her go. My father proceeded her in death after a painful bout with cancer. But we will all die, and death is but a new beginning. You so beautifully portray that here. Another 10 from me.

beautiful ... and now, if we could accept the death of the last moment, that this moment may truly be free ... thx for this post!

I like the idea that death is a euphoric experience and not one of sorrow and pain. I also like the connection made to the Universe and the peaceful tranquility it beastows on those leaving this material world. Very nice!

That is one of the most beautiful poems I have ever read. Because death really is just a new begining. The begining is the end of something old and the end is the begining of something new. I don't believe that anything ever really dies, it is only transformed into something new.
