Am God

Am God

The end of dogma comes not with crash,

Not with loud bang, nor startling splash;

The end of dogma is when doubt erases

All hope from anxious, pallid faces.

Yet long before its end is feted,

Am God shall be celebrated;

Right-brained mirror of old thought,

Reverses all that once was taught.

Not the end, nor fulcrum point,

Doth new wisdom thus anoint;

Where in clear, transparent verse,

Truth still prances in reverse!

Hosts shall marvel its reception,

Prophets shoulder its deception,

All is valid once conceived,

Just arbitrate all that’s believed.

What once was chained, is now set loose;

It you’ve not quaffed, just drink your juice.

Jonestown’s Kool-Aid’s now on sale

As Fate asserts, “Go straight to jail!”

Powerful, indeed. "The end of dogma is when doubt erases"...We are never dedicated to something that we have complete confidence in. Are we? No one is fanatically shouting that the sun is going to rise tomorrow. We just know it 's going to rise. I may never understand the fundamental weakness of the human mind, but even with that said, all I can do is try. The slaughter that took place in Jonestown seemed incomprehensible back then as it does today. This is a great piece.

I liked your analysis of dedication and confidence. faith is indeed, the persuasion of a fact before all the evidence is in. A sortof benign prejudice, after all.

Ouch this poem is a powerful anti-thesis for sure. You know I recently met a poet who escaped Jonestown and survived. The tragedy of that was reprehensible. Anyhow this is an eye-opener. ginga

Someone oncesaid, "Even poets have their agenda." Didn't mean to cause an "ouch." Just a little cogitation, that's all. thanks for your read. HT

One line does it all for this terriffic piece..."All is valid once conceived..." The last stanza is pretty cool stuff. That same warning, so unheeded by so many for so long. Will we hear before the trumphets sound? Great write! MSV

Thank you, I appreciate your comments very much.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
