An afghan for Mary Rose

Poem Commentary

I made an afghan as trade for being taught a special gift. A way of helping others and connecting with the devine. This poem is a way of showing my graditude, because she helped me with so much!

An afghan for Mary Rose

This is how the story goes.

She taught me with love and care

To use a gift I was unaware.

Each day we met at her home,

She welcomed me with open arms.

A hug was always the way we would start,

Each day was one of caring and sharing from the heart.

Mary Rose is such a sweet soul,

It was easy to listen to all I was told.

Each lesson taught would fill me with awe.

Each question answered with the kindest of words.

They were never treated as if they were absurd.

She not only shared the secrets of Reiki,

For in many ways she has helped set me free.

She talked with me in trying times,

Helped me sort out what was running through my mind.

Never did she say a word that was unkind.

Even when a strong point needed to be made,

She spoke the words in the softest of ways.

The messages came through to me as clear as can be,

What a wonderful teacher she came to be.

So an afghan I made for Mary Rose,

Sage Mary is the name by which it goes.

I think the angels sent these fibers our way.

The colors were meant for her in such a special way.

These fibers were twisted with love and care,

For one who is so willing to open and share.

So my many thanks to you Mary Rose,

May this small token keep you warm from your head to your toes.

To show my thanks for your kindness and

More important your open mindedness.

I have learned so much it’s easy to say,

That each moment we shared was special to me.

And what a true friend I have found you to be.

With much gratitude for your love and kindness,

from your friend Beth

Mary Rose actually said "I am so honored that you wrote that for me". She is very spiritual and uses that word often. Thank you so much for reading.

Thank you Lone. That was very kind.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
