    An Injury

    When bullied out at recess,

    the little boy was injured.

Not bruised where it can be seen…

    Purple-blue, or red and swollen

    Those boo-boos heal fairly quickly.

    He was scarred by words,

Injured by mean remarks and hurtful digs…

That left holes in his psyche.

An injured ego takes longer to mend.

    Band-aids of comfort and

the sweet medicine of Mother’s kisses

Could reassure him that someone cares.

He does not know these things.

Well put. Children can be so cruel. Deliberately and remorselessly causing pain or anguish. They say this is because the frontal lobe of their brain is not developed enough for them to realize how horrendously devastating their actions are. I wonder.
