    Poem Commentary

if my Father can not make Peace, why is it my war

    an old pawn

    wars like all wars,
    good men die young,
    bad men live on,
    women are raped,
    children are orphaned,

    and Mother's cry,

    for idea's, or principle's,
    for gold,  or silver,
    for land, or water, food,
for the end of an egg

    and Mother's cry,

    war is an art,
    studied, and mastered,
kill a man, or many men
bomb a city, or a nation

    and Mothers cry.

    wars like all wars,
    Master and his Student
    before time was time
    rock turned to spear

    and Mother's cry

    be it Heaven or Hell

    I will take or,
    it was never my war

    and Mother's cry

This is very good. I have a son....and I would hate to lose him to to any kind of war. :) Kool

And a mother cries because she doesn't understand... she can't understand - to sacrifice a son, a daughter, a bother - sister, a husband for the sake of war (for the sake of WAR?). Older than understanding, what is the necessity of war!? You have artfully expressed emotions that will live on in the minds of all your readers! Thank you. 10

I love the way you've used the repetitive line "and Mother's cry" to drive your point home... no matter what brand or label we give to battle, it's always devastating for someone. Great write.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
