An Unwarranted Visitor

An Unwarranted Visitor

The sound of absence creeping across the moonlit floor
My heart long lost knocking on that rust red door
The question put to myself greet it like the prodigal son
Or leave the door shut and of a greeting I shall give none

I ponder being of two minds to be sure, on what now to do
While outside a trick turns the moonlight a darker shade of blue
The trees loom darker yet, shadows of shadows black as night
They look on silent, waiting, their silence offering no insight

Pressing my head against the door why have you come back
You ran on first sight and took all… what have I now that you lack
Clouds moving swiftly in the dark overhead ominously cover the moon
Silence in the dark within the darkness a heart comes to ask a boon

Still with head pressed to door what, what could you want from me
The terrible roar of time and loss down the chasm of eternity
The trees groan their warning in the dark wind far to late
Creaking and groaning the rust red door opens to my fate

Very nice! I just want to know what it was at that rust red door that made you unsure as to whether t open the door or not. I love a mystery to ponder!

Wow I love this poem. I think its my favorite. Its like poetry for a scene for a scary movie lol.

ah, but is the heart seeking entrance or exit? profound imagery and an almost poe-like feel to this, it's haunting and your phrasing is exquisite. 10

i really like your poem i thought it was great you r a great writer

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
