    Apathy

    You ever wondered where

    Your unconditionality went?

    The way of the dodo

    Your innocence spent

    Humanity’s got the brain rot

    I’m observing and silently sighing

I have faith in these grand things

    That always end up dying

    Writing these vague words

    To keep my mind occupied

    In an incomprehensible mess

    I’m momentarily setting things right

    The light is killing me

    But I can’t shy away

    Longing to be free

    From the tomorrow of yesterday

    I still love that girl

    How fucked-up is that?

    My reason and my heart

    Locked in unending combat

Looking in all the wrong places

    For some peace of mind

    Alas, transcending kindness

    Does not become my kind

I lose track of my creations

    Of secrets, promises and lies

    Trying to remain myself

    In front of prying eyes

    Coping with alleged truth

    And other unpleasantries

    Distancing myself from things

It seems no one else sees

    My godlessness is tiring

    Knowledge posing as wisdom

We wait and wait and wait and wait

For a train wreck at random

    And all the frustration

    And wicked sense of wrong

    Is echoed in your unsaid

As you try to stay strong

    Caring gets me nowhere

And I hate to let it be

But on days as dark these

    I’m prone to apathy

Perhaps I am drawn to this piece for all the wrong reasons__I can relate to the subject, in that he never can see a world outside of himself, through what is merely his perception__Thus enslavement and entrapment to past experience__Such a steep price to pay in order to feel safe with our fear and anger__Going there has become the reflexive coat of armor I wear in my personal battle with punitive ghosts

I'm sorry, but i really don't understand this comment. Would you care to elaborate?

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
