Beautiful Death

I am a dog
Full of loyalty
Lying at your feet
Every night
Depending on you
Everything you do
Every scrap you throw my way

I love you!
But I hate you!
I want you!
But can't stand you!
You are the air I breath
And the poison that I drink
Tell me why should I succumb
To such a beautiful death?

I am a whore
Full of lust
Lying naked
In your bed
Every night
Just another warm body
For you to hide inside

I love you!
But I hate you!
I want you!
But can't stand you!
You are the air I breath
And the poison that I drink
Tell me why should I succumb
To such a beautiful death?

I am your waste
I am your pawn
I am the devil
That you spawned
I am the truth
I am the lie
I am each tear
You make me cry!
I am what I've become
What I became
Since you came along

I love you!
But I hate you!
I want you!
But can't stand you!
You are the air I breath
And the poison that I drink
Tell me why should I succumb
To such a beautiful death?

I enjoyed your lyrics, although I became confused about 25% into it. I didn't really connect with it, but was does that mean, it's YOUR wonderful writing. There are many GREAT lines in it. And again there is something great in it, I just didn't connect. But over all it was interesting :)

Nice poem. It seems you are caught between the inevitable. Death call we must obey yet we hate it and love it again. Ride on.

I think the poem is complete after the second stanza. The dog image says it all. The rest of the poem moves away from the dog metaphor and doesn't real offer anything new to the intent in the poem While the last like in stanza two looks like closure on the poem. Cut the dead wood. A poet friend// RH Peat

Ah, the ages old story of the love-hate diorama... Life all wrapped up into one big pile of uncertain feelings, passions, and blissfully ignorant agony of self-being... You told the story well... I couldn't pull this one off, but you did it with ease... Great write...

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
