Poem Commentary

My Sisters took this pic, from their window in PA. Thanks for it's use Amy & Kelly! Hope you like my poem. Thanks for taking a look. God Bless, in peace and sun-rest!!

Beauty in the Arriving Storm

Busy in my doings, I hadn’t yet noticed the changing sun

When out a glassy pane I peered, I saw a wondrous fun

The evening sun had turned the sky to a passing pillowy-pink

With purple hews, the clouds flowed in such an elegant sync

The wind at a fury, a changing sky would be missed in a blink

The winds grew stronger, moving rapidly I began to think

I thought of my camera, I said aloud, this picture I had to take

For all to see this awesome solar display is real, not fake

All the signs proved a following storm now moments away

It forges on steadily, all in its’ path await not to go astray

Praying to God, this storm won’t be as bad as a blizzard

Which in this land and others, is a worst kind of hazard

Still, everyone must stay home and off the streets and roads

A snow day for all non-essential workers, schools are closed

Plows plowing and ever quickly spreading salt and sand

Try to keep the streets open and safer so’s noone to strand

The rhyming is excellent in this work and the title sets the stage for all that follows.

Wow, thank you. I so glad to have heard from you. I feel humbled by you reading & complimenting my poem. We do share a liking for this type of rhyme. I hope to have stood my own on the meter. :D Thanks, IvyRose

Zep, I hear you here. The 'nor'easterns bury us every time. I have to admit here in Western Ma we have dodged the bullet all winter with minimal snow. I love your rhyme schemes and esp how you start out the poem with your observations of the pink sky. ginga

O, my thank you so much ginga! Yes we have dodged a few bad ones in the North Shore, above Boston. Including this one. But my Sister in northwestern PA hasn't been so fortunate, they are buried!

Thanks Sisters for the use of your cool pic... the arriving storm! (Has come) :D Love Yas!!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
