before i found you

before i found you

Before I found you I was just a bullet without a gun, the father without a son, the sky with no stars, a prison with no bars, I was lost with no cause, I was no reason for applause, lightening without a rod and a man of faith with no God.

I put myself out there twice before and it left my heart feelin pretty sore

I went ahead and shut my feelings down all so I would never again frown

Before I found you I wasn’t the happy man you see today, you went and saved me from my evil ways, you didn’t cut me any slack and you got my life back on the right track.

You tore down the walls that I built so high, you gave me the courage to give love another try.

Well you took my hand and made my heart soar; Girl there’s no one else I could possibly love more.

Before I found you I was just going through the motions sailing through an endless ocean, I had no real dreams, just nightmares followed by bloody screams, I was just a compass without a direction and a fancy mirror with no reflection.

When I found you, you were the lighthouse that brought me to shore, you took my breath away and oh so much more.

When I found you I didn’t know what I was getting myself into.

When I found you I knew it had to be true.

Well Im glad I found you…

This is lovely. I just love reading your poetry. You have a great knack for rhyming, even when you're angry and venting. How you can do that I'll never know but you do. It shows true talent because you can write even when stressed. This however, is a very positive poem so filled with hope that it is a joy to read

To be completely honest it is much easier for me to rhyme and write when I am stressed or upset. I never really thought about that being strange because that is just how I cam e to write. I think I have told you, but it has been quite sometime since I was upset. So most of the things that I have written have taken a very long time to come up with, and I have not written anything in a while. Some might find it sad, but it is a relief to me. I am glad you enjoyed this piece. I will see if i have any older pieces to post.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
