    Black Lace Ribbon

    Over purple-bruised flesh
    spans black lace ribbon.
Such a poor veil, such a poor disguise,
a poor infliction, a poor demise.
Consider it gone, under makeup and fabric,
so hidden by a cloaking of thin lies,
    smiles, laughs, jokes.
Under jeans and t-shirts and black lace ribbon,
black and blue and greenily yellow,
    fading.
    Little seen pain,
but such familiar black lace ribbon.
This deceit like thin black ice,
    it might break,
but who's to say they even saw it?

I am all to familiar with women who've tried to hide their abuse with clothing and make-up. Any man who would beat a woman is a worthless pile of human garbage. That said, good poem as always, sweetpea. I love your work:)

i know, its absolutely horrible. any one who woul beat a woman or a child is,,a worthless pile of INhuman garbage. but anyways, thank you!!!!!!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
