Blissful Innocence

Blissful Innocence

Welcome to the childbirth place, you couples in labor pains.
All else failed, cries of pain, there seemed to be no hope.
The sky was still dark, dismal, and dreary: damp, and gloomy.
A woman was expecting her first child having pains that are hard..
A green scrub implicates the physician as the agent in charge.

A very graphic sight begins to emerge right before our very eyes.
Someone mentioned the words “it’s crowning” now.
Awe, shock business and then the crowd yell out a cheer!
It wouldn’t be long before a child would suddenly appear.

The staff’s ready to respond with the dad’s profound stare.
I feel able to "stay calm" and receive a realistic report.
But what’s going to happen or do we leave it to fate?
In the room while your baby is being born is pretty damn great.

All the rapid hassles and bustling commotions about
Everything seemed too perfectly for a smooth birth
Half way through it seems to be working out.
I realized what I should have done, be manly, be calm.
A bouncing mess of bloody baby’s here. What the fuck?
Seriously, this scene couldn't be worse.

Yet after the initial spank and cry of the birth,
All seemed so quiet; no one's now in a rush.
In the nursery, the baby lie quiet; wrapped in blankets of pink
Tucked safety in her crib, no sound could be heard.
Nothing from doctor, mother or nurse, not even a word.
So blissfully she slept, this miracle of birth.
Like the beauty of a rose in full bloom and all that it's worth.

Thank you for the read. It is a part of my personal experience. I have witnessed this blessed event of childbirth and the blissful innocence of a newborn in my work.

Standingbear, you are so sweet and much too kind. But hey I like your commet thank you.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
