Breathless

    • To be set free, but locked away in my own cell of fear

    Breathless

I am here alone surrounded by a crowd
I am overwhelmed with doubt screaming
    LET ME OUT! Somebody....anybody....
    I'm hallucinating, hyperventilating
    Breathless...

Slowly losing the faith I never thought I had
Quickly forcing a smile on my face
In order to replace the images of me still being in this place
Even if just for a moment
But I'm wasting me energy on soundproof glass

    Rolling into a routine
    Everything like clock work
Every second of our lives seem longer than the last
    Tick tock, tick tock

    Tired of it all
Throwing my hands up in surrender
Tragedy really, how you make every call
    Trashing souls in a blender

You eat this shit for breakfast
You talk endlessly day in and day out
    About nothing of any importance
    I don't understand how you're not breathless

    Creating barriers
Causing tremors in the palms of the lost
Taking up the room that we hardly have left
Toying with all that could make or break us

    And what do have here?
Mix ups, rug pullers an liars
    I'm sure I'm missing a few
    How are you still functioning?

With such power and force of darkness
You tend to to walk with your head up your ass
Like there's nothing wrong in the world
    Well congratulations....

    No escaping you
Taunting voices in the back of my head
Agreeing with others from another life
Just quit while you already have me on the ledge

    Nightmares of the worst
Working in the dark and my hands tied behind my back
Falling back to the same old thing dare in and day out
    I'm all out of breath

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
