Bygone traditions

Where are they now?

Filipino values of yesteryears

ways to describe them

measures of their uniqueness.

Where are they now?

as families gather in prayer

as children respect their parents

as they grow in Christian faith.

Where are they now?

going to church on Sundays

communication among members

of families with faith and love.

Where are they now?

chivalry among men

modesty among women

respect before settling down.

Where are they now?

sense of nationalism

pride of being Filipinos

a treasure as one nation.

Where are they now?

sense of sacrifice

that aims to achieve success

with life’s quality as the best.

Where are they now?

Filipinos with a moral sight

to help their compatriots

in their struggles over this side.

Living in a foreign land

assimilation may require

but with  a strong foundation

remains a Filipino forever.

‘Tis a question that seeks

an answer to be lived out

a way to be transparent

in many issues of life.
