    CAN YOU REMEMBER WHEN

Remember when the people of the grass roots all had a common cause; when slogans of enriched pride captivated young and old, big and small. No justice, no peace was a familiar chant that we loved to say. Shouts for freedom and revolution were the orders of every day. The beautiful Afro hairstyles: and colorful dashiki symbols of our past. But today food prices are sky high and we pay way too much for gas. The clenched fist was a symbol too of brotherhood because so many had died. But today we hate and kill one another and our people are not unified.

I remember penny candy, ice cream cones, and a little child could walk alone. Children were safe, a dollar was a dollar, and a house was truly a home. When milk was real; the economy was good and life was oh so sweet. When the good policemen patrolled the streets Rodney would have not been beat.

People helped one another; doors were unlocked and women and children were sacred from harm and touch. The babies and elderly people were treated kindly and loved very much. But today there are lots of evil people; it is hard to find someone to trust. I pray to God and ask him to help us. To help humanity out of this rut.

And by the way Lord; forgive us because some of us know not what we do.

Please do not pass me by...
