    • I once knew everything, and now I know nothing.

    carnival 2

And now thinking of that place
    Where I once fed dreams
    Where sky and water met.
    A city where carnival meant
    hungry habits gorged on tourists
Where veins fed through liquid swords.
    Where love laid dying
Crushed beneath the weight of 1,000
    Broken hearts,
    Misguided misled mistakes.
    Passion forced from unwilling mouths
enough that blue blood runs red
    no one is safe
    Poets ramble to cement partners
Fed by psychics and small shiny trinkets.
    Here in the carnival city
    I escape
From humanity, life, and those who would
    Love honestly

    Dark! Nice Poem.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
