CODA

And (it shall come to pass in the last days),
I will show wonders in the heavens above,
and signs in the earth beneath.
–The Acts of the Apostles 2:19

Linear, circular, daunting, surreal

Impressions laid out in the fields

Painted upon nature’s bountiful wing

Messages sent from a mystical being

Like an everlasting crusade from days of lore

Spoken words from the earths’ core

Within natures essence lives consciousness

Her wisdom and experience effervesce

Anchored in roots within the soil

Incantations from under boil

Magnetic beams merge color and light

Done undercover of the night

Queries abound around the source

Portend a reckoning of some force

Ageless, timeless tracks revealed

Met with skeptics, found to be unreal

Brilliant latin, lotus, logarithmic

Platonic solids trip the lunar mystic

Resonant field, 8-spoked wheel, electromagnetic

Serpents, fractals, spirals, kinetic

Tantalizing patterns, philosophical formations

Warnings understood by the Indian Nations

Vesica piscis, symbolic sun

Gamma radiation lingers on the position

Mapped out close among the stones

Not far off from ancient thrones

Tree of life, branches fruitful

Reasoning spent on glyphs eternal

Torus tube, half moon, Barbury Castle

Scientists exceed the believers’ hassle

Flowers, Grid, relationships appear

Tetrahedron and the sphere

Aerial significance, ponder they will

Celtic, music, Telegraph Hill

Vortex, sunflower, capacitance

No shelter for a scholars’ arrogance

Hidden words caught in the grain

Penetration does not refrain

A paradox or some say a hoax

Windmill, alchemy, Egyptian codes

Pivotal tube of light manifestation

Spinning process involved in the creation

Seeming chromatic color conveyance

Circlemakers involved in a game of chance

Reigning in the harvest clearly seen

Triangle, and the Golden Mean

Planetary harmonics foretold, not explained

The seeds of knowledge it contains

A vortex generates a magnetic field

Forgeries hail close, but are revealed

Universal paradigm carved in organic stage

Arena, theatre, platform, page

Fantastic anomalies found in the barley

Dismissed without proof, hardly

Majestic, lovely coda, a written gage

Pay attention, the earth is a sage

-M. Jacobs

I loved this intelligent and artistic poem offering a straight forward and plausible explanation on a fascinating and puzzling para-normal though maybe not para-natural occurrence!;) ~10~

Thanks, SavVySam,it was a perplexing write, as I had just read an entire book on crop circles phenomenon and was duly inspired by it! So the words just rolled out!

I have been reading a book about crop circles for the second time to see what more I could glean from it as far as information and this poem just popped out of me, I wrote it very fast. Thanks for reading it and your comments.

Thanks Alreedus, for your quick response to my "CODA". I am surprised at how quickly you got to it.

Tantalizing patterns in this tantalizing write. The piece swoons and paints a watermark on the reader, thoroughly enthralled. Excellent. Wisdom and experience effervesce in this piece as they do in the time machine. Poetic license at its best. -Alan

Thanks for your quick response, somehow my comment got up there and I left a comment on Aquamarine, but it did not stick, so I gotta go back and do it over, damn these glitches.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
