    i forget why i wrote this.....but i just watched 'Chasing Amy' and i kinda fits

    Cold Shut Eyes

     all my life
    I've been looking for
    someone just like you
    i never thought you'd be
    right in front of me
    why didn't i see you
    why didn't i open my eyes

    you've been there
    i just never saw you
    why couldn't i see
    the beauty you held
    the strength you have
    right in front of
    my cold shut eyes
    why wouldn't they let me see
    when i could feel you
    my cold shut eyes
    wouldn't let me see you

    i knew you were there
    i felt your breath
    upon my face
    but i couldn't get passed
    the cold that
    held my eyes shut

    i wanted to open them
    but no success

    my cold shut eyes
    refused to open
    the ice wouldn't
    let them open
    the cold lids
    wouldn't open or warm

    let me hold you close
    keep you near
    and i know
    so let the warmth
    of your breath
    brush acrossed my eyes
    let the cold fade away
    and I'll be able
    to open
    my cold shut eyes

    Beautifully written. the pain of not being able to see the one you want is palatable. Lots of emotion here. superb job
