    Comforting Sand

    Bury your toes in the sand, boy,

    Bury them deep in the warm;

    As darkness falls, vacationland calls,

    Bury your toes in the sand.

    Bury your hand in the sand, boy,

    Bury it deep ‘neath her form;

    Clue her behind, to the front of your mind,

    Bury your hand in the sand.

    Bury your heart in the sand, man,

    Bury its bludgeoned remains,

    So no one can view, what she’s done to you,

    Bury your heart in the sand.

    Bury your head in the sand, then,

    Bury your fears and your pains;

    What you have lost, some other has won,

    Bury your head in the sand.

    Lay ‘neath the comforting sand, when,

    Vacationland’s credits come due;

    Your casket’s slow dropped with flowers on top,

    With no one to see them but you.

    Along a far coast a lass waited,

    Long years for some suiter to call,

    A memory odd, of a hand ‘neath her bod,

    Had he been the one, after all?

    Yet another inspiring work to add to my list of favorites. Your extreme talents leave me awed and inspired, as usual. Amazing work, Harver!

    A somewhat complex arrangement of rhyme through the paired stanzas, (I would surmise), more work in keeping true to intended form: Your efforts shine in the phrases that describe this forlorn plight. A fine offering of poetry: 10!

    LOL, I think I was remembering the gal in the bikini who kicked sand in my face once, for getting too close. HT

    This poem is a pleasure to read inspite of the sad undertones. I love the progression and the references to sand, it makes sense to me.

    ::: sigh::: .... I hear your call to your love, as we humans, all ...... call to our love, whether it be in close breath of across the table or long-stretch across time and space ... you wrote a very fervent and blunt-edged statement to Now, about not long ago and where did the it go. My belief is that, as you still long for your love... your love (the one with anxious heart) waits also for you.

    It is a call to love, and dare to take a risk now and then. Good insight. Not sure about anyone waiting for me, though. Although, that thought is a bit ego flattering. . . HT

    The boy becomes a man, the sand, the link conecting discovery, feeling and pain. My soul is touched! Not even Byron would have said so well. Congrats!

    Envision me bowing deeply to your applause. TYVM Harv

    Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
