    Despair

Where now have flown the joy and hope of youth
and the bright mornings, pregnant with anticipation?
All is tedium and sorrow, difficult and complicated
    Suckish.

    My poets pen lies desiccated,
denied time to think, feel or be
This world is unkind, cruel even
Populated by robots of greed and apathy

    Sssh, don't trouble yourself
All storms pass and the strong will weather them out
    What care I for strength
expended for naught but bare survival

    I want my smile back
the feel of sun and wind and water on my face
I want to live, not merely exist
    I am diminished - tarnished

    dissatisfied
    and
    disillusioned

    the abyss beckons
shall I heed it's siren call?
Turn away from this sorry place
Do we truly live many lives?

Or is it just this one?
The longer I live, the less I know
    of truth, beauty or love
    intangible fragile ideals

That must be put away with the toys of childhood
if we are to function as adults
and yet....I will refuse to pretend
that I do not feel their loss

    and find all of life
    meaningless in their absence
    I despair
    too much to hold on

Have I believed in a God
    who is no more
    than wishful thinking
    and looked for sense
    where there is none?

    Faith is for children....
    who don't know
that there is no Santa Claus
and that there will be no Christmas.

my children....what shall I teach you that is true?
    I have no answers
perhaps that is the only truth I know.

Deep, dark, and sad, a mood I know all too well. But there is Santa Claus, he Like Christ exists in everyone of us who believe. Santa is a spirit as much as anything, the spirit of Christmas. But sometimes I know that it is easy not to believe, when life is suckish (love the word), but hang on/ It's darkest before the dawn. Merry Christmas ten days late.

Yes, this poem truly feels like despair. Sometimes we see what we look for....write a poem on joy!

This is the age of Kali Yuga: You're not alone. Any & every sentient being is going through this. It's worth it! Just keep walking, one foot after the other. "Tha Fat Lady ain't sang yit"!!

Oh, I'm hanging in - just feeling worn out and run down lately.

You always keep it real, life has dealt you a hand you bet on ... and sometimes are left holding, even a loser, remember the cards when they are Ace high. I love the details you penned so clearly, be well my friend, its been awhile k

Can we look to Kelvin instead of Farenheit, and then measure from the bottom, rather than the top? Peace, love, and light. Sometime joy is elusive, and we just have to count details AS SUCH. Artistically, the dark muse is attractive, but I'm suspecting it ages you for the wearing.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
