Dreams

Beyond the horizon
over the eastern sky
a field of desert flowers,
begin to sway.
Their petals are long,
and colors strong.
Nursed by brief showers,
they are growing in the sun.

Today it seems
the fresh spring flowers

have ventured me
to contemplate for hours
of this quest I'm on
to write you see,
of something quite elusive,
a discourse of fair reason,
of reality and dreams.
and if these are mutually exclusive.

The question being,
can they be real
across the sea
if they I cannot see,
something I cannot feel,

of hope and dreams I'm writing.

Settled in thought
the mind has just the answer.
A soaring dove
from God has come
to nest its' home,
to place in human nature,
an angel from above,
for us to be all taught
our hopes and dreams are real,
just as the distant flowers reveal

I just wrote this poem today Rowanda,on the theme of dreams and hope, and why both are real.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
