Ego Revealed

Ego Revealed

Externalization of power
Is the weapon
Of the ego
If we were to remember
That all power
The All-Power
The All-Giver
The All-Spark
Lies within us,
That power is internal,
There would be no more
Space for ego
Ego thrives on complaints
Resentment and blame
An idea of separateness
Is the essence of ego
The illusion of separation
Is its life support
Identification with form
Form in all of its forms
Roles, thoughts, judgments
Objects, stories, people
Inferiority and superiority
Battle to be better
Or identified with being worse
Feeling compelled to
Cut my ego strings
Let it float off of me
To a place where I can
See it easily
Until it becomes a dot
In the vast sky
The vast space of Presence
Where it must forfeit
Where it must recede
And where there is simply
Nothing for it to feed on
Making each moment,
Or rather recognizing
Each moment as a holy moment,
A sacred space,
A miracle in motion,
A wonderment where beauty shines
And time ceases to exist
A greater understanding
Of what we are
Lies right before us
If we become the moment
And listen to Life
Stillness does truly speak
And can surely provide
All the answers we seek
Every single soul
From the strong to the weak,
From the bold to the meek,
From the serf to the sheik,
Are one with the whole
Yet each are unique
The one moment is always
Ever eternal
Infinite Now
Grace of Being

It is hard for me in these days ( after having been in receipt of so much personal and necessary correction) to give praise except for where it is merited! I am giving this a ten for a rating and wishing there were a higher score to give. You must, by now, Trocka7, be getting a feel for this individual who calls himself Kallen. Well done here in this poem above! KAllen

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
