    Embracing a sad mem’ry

    Another tragedy hit humanity

    earthquake victims from L’Aquila, Italy

it occurred early at dawn while asleep

like wolves in the woods with ferocious moods.

    People across the globe

    sent their messages of comfort

    others did their supplications

to God, who’s the source of life.

    Media networks ceaselessly echo

this great tragedy in the Italian history

    victims perished, others were homeless

reason to be united, be strengthened with hope.

    With the global economy imploding

with Catholicism that fades in the horizon

Italians, in general, take an extra mile

despite differences in the whole spectrum.

Those Italians immigrants in the foreign land

bound in faith, moved with compassion

their contingency action to their own people

a clarion call for help near and far.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
