face the day.
Layers upon layers of endless pastel wool and silk.
Warmth and depth; rolling smooth and sinking into.
Awaken, tangled.
Startled and discomforted.
Clumsy and confused.
Rub my eyes on instinct.
Leg wrapped around leg.
Protective over restful sleeper.
But no longer.
Mechanically sliding my still-dreaming feet onto the ground.
Onto gray-faded pink carpet.
Toes searching for something to hold their passenger.
Cold skin explodes into a million goosebumps.
Stricken, shivering.
Denim and velvet replace my wool and silk...
Bulky layers surround me.
I must venture out and face the day.
