I would ask myself

I would ask myself

I stumbled across a mirror
as i walked along the sand.
It was a struggle to retrieve it,
it was just outside my hand.
I wiped it clean of it's dust,
then could see and understand.
The image on the other side,
my desire, be his command,
A peek at the future
is what i want to see,
to see what would become
of the me I planned to be.
To ask a couple question
to get to the bottom of the truth
to learn form the mistakes i made
and correct my wasted youth.
My wish had been granted,
I could ask the wiser me.
What is the true meaning to life?
What controls the powers that be?
Through this magic looking glass
I could see me sitting there,
years had past and not so kindly
aged far worse for all the ware.
I was all alone, lost without shelter
long gone were those who care.
Hey you I need your full attention
there's much you need to share
You know what I need to know
you can put to rest my fears
you can ease my pain, heal my heart
and wipe away the tears.
I knew you when you were younger
now I see where you are today
Its the time that passes in-between
that are colored in shades of gray
If you will listen to me closely,
I can keep you from falling apart
It will take alot of soul searching
but it will take it to mend the heart
you can save us from this anguish
just stop it before it begins
tell me where to find the answers
that will save us in the end
There was a time when you were clear
on the path you were to take
The dreams you had,
the life you wanted,
the choices you needed to make
The reasons, are what i need to know
to understand this life you've lived
If I don't get the answer I seek,
it's me that we cant forgive
Those we love will suffer and take
the loss we've forced them to endure
the error in our choice
that offer no relief nor cure.

There was a time when a passion
for life is what you had known
your heart was full, the future so bright
and your faith in love had grown
you gave with kindness and all the
joy in your light had freely shown
Once it was taken, but never gotten over
from then to now you've been alone
So the answer is... and I hope you listen,
You can never do it all by yourself
The meaning to life is found in the giving
not in closed books stored high of a shelf
The powers that be, no need to keep looking
they live in the moments and the truths we tell
Share your life don't live in silence
its the only way to escape this hell
