Dreamland to Reality

She's been asleep for almost half a century now

A sleep rather tagged a comatose

The touch of reality seems to have eluded her

As she drifts away into her reverie.

Her skin is still drenched

And feels every prickle from her tales of hardship.

From the smile on her face

I could penetrate her dreamland

Hearing her whisper even among roars

"A land flowing with milk and honey

A free and democratic society

A just and egalitarian society

A united strong and self-reliant nation

A great and dynamic economy

A land full of bright opportunities for all citizens"

Then she broadens her smile

But wait!

The look is fast achanging

I can feel her pains from within

But with the rains I cannot discern the tears

Awake! Awake!! I called out to her

Awake for you go no where while in slumber

Awake for reality calls

For the fullness of life belongs only to those who strive for it.

Awake for many you've kept waiting

In expectation of the achievement of your dreams, OUR DREAMS.

Awake for we know not how muchlonger we can hold.

Awake from your dreamland to reality.

Poetry is what is lost in translation.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
