My dearest friends

My dearest friends

If i were a super star the one thing i would do
Is build a great big mansion and invite all of you
We’d never be down hearted we never would be blue
Just think of all the stories i could share with all of you

I'd cook you something’s special my secret recipe
We’d wine we'd dine and laugh and joke and set our spirits free
We all would share our innermost thoughts our memories of the past
This would be my greatest wish none other could surpass

I don’t need to be a super star or famous and rich you know
For all the love inside of me is yours and yours alone
I keep it well with in my heart and whenever i am low
I think how lucky i really am as our friendship grows and grows

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
