HISTORY REPEAT ITSELF

HISTORY

Ancient ages,
Saints and sages
Come alive again
As I flip through the pages…

Blood baths and wars,
Crusaders and conquerors
Breaking through shut doors and walls,
Leaving behind corpses and massacres
Burning down palaces and marble halls…

Centuries of oppression and yoke,
Burning in fumes and thick black smoke,
Rising up to the dark night sky
And covering the full moon
Centuries of plague, sickness and gloom,
Centuries of ignorance, inquisition and doom…

Is history always going to repeat itself?

Even today,
I see on the big plasma screen
Bodies torn away
By blasted bombs in temples of worship,
People bleeding while others scream,
Soldiers, tanks and killing machines…

Will this madness ever end?
Or will we be blind until the end?
Or will we ever be able to see
That killing people in the name
Of some twisted and forced doctrine
Is uncivil, inhumane and simply insane?
