Write By Numbers Book

After reading a comment on rsallassi’s poem, ‘Ode To Ode To Cars’ I came up with an idea for a new poetry book: Write By Numbers[/i]. Here is an example of how it works. The word spaces are laid out with the correct number of spaces per line. Each word in the poem is assigned a number just like the well-known Paint by Numbers[/b]. If a word such as [the] is used more than once, it will have the same number in each spot. The user paints the words into the spaces in whatever font they choose, in whatever color they choose. In the index at the back of the book will be the correct version of the poem.

1 = caps 2 = with 3 = softly 4 = sunlight 5 = snow 6 = them 7 = topping

8 = warms 9 = til 10 = poppies 11 = white 12 = falling

Topping poppies with white caps

Til sunlight warms them

Obviously, the more words in the poem, the more difficult. But keep in mind, Green Eggs And Ham was written with only 50 words.

Very clever, Londo - I might have to play around with this and see what I come up with.

I didn't know Green Eggs and Ham used only 50 words!! That is so cool.

'Londo the Loony', now that's got a ring to it. Sort of like 'Salassi the Silly'. We could start a club. Should we enlist 'Kah the Kooky'? Just a thought.

Looks like kah the kool is playing it kool. Oh well. This 'Write By Numbers Book' idea is really a lot more work than it's worth. I think it took me almost 2 hours to put that last one together. If this dies a quiet death, I totally understand.

Whatever killed the idea should be contagious. I'd like to see a few other pieces on OP agonize in the throes of a horrid ending. Now I know that sounds a bit uncharitable, but as Sam Cooke said, "It's Saturday night and I ain't got nobody..."
