    GARAGE SALE DAY IN WESTON, MO.

    June, 2, 2000
    Garage sale day,
    In Weston town;
    Signs on poles
    In yards abound.
    Streets too narrow,
    To safely park,
    But that's okay,
    They're busy till dark.
    You creep around
    These hilly streets;
    Looking for junk,
    That's really neat;
    Hoping you don't
    Meet cars coming through;
    There's not room for one,
    Much less two.
    If you really want
    To get very far,
    You might as well walk;
    Forget the car.
    If you have business,
    That really can't wait,
    You better start early,
    Or you'll be late.
    To find the right---
    "Whatever" ---real cheap,
    That's your goal;
    That's what you seek;
    If when you get home,
    It's not right for you,
    Have garage sale next year,
    And sell it to Sue.
    In our great land,
    We recycle much;
    From paper, to aluminum,
    Plastic and such.
    So why not junk,
    Instead of throwing away;
    Makes everyone happy;
    It's the American way!

    Once a year, Weston, Mo. has a week-end for everyone that want to have a garage sale to have them at the same time. I was sitting on the veranda trying to decide if it was worth the effort to go. I decided-- NO

    thank you for your comment. I really enjoyed writing this.

    Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
