Gather Your Young

Gather Your Young

Hear me, those of you
With minds that are open,
And hearts that beat true;
Gather your young
And pull them close,
For your time together
Is ever short and waning.

Never hesitate to share your
Histories both spoken and written,
To help them to understand
The genesis from which they're sculpted.
Through these tales of our ancestors
Though perhaps flawed, or blemished,
They
may inspire and enpower
Them to reach the extraordanairy.

We thus
aid them with their choices
Toward wise battles, making certain
The fulfillment of future victories.

And never lose sight
Of those common miracles granted
Which greet you at the start of each day;
A child's smile, and laughter,
The small feet making pitter patter.
With the close of the book
After a bedtime story
That ends your day together
With a last goodnight kiss.
You know in your heart,
No other world need nor exist.

In that twilight when
The tender aged dream,

Rest well knowing
You've given your
Complete commitment
To all of thier needs.
As you raise and rear,
Teach and encourage,
This next generation.
Be assured they
will
Succeed you in inheriting

The kingdom's throne,
Crowned, and gloried.

Gather your young
So they might know fully
How strong is your love
And true is your acceptance.
For they are you
In each in every way,
Your life, your blood,
Your hopes, your dreams,
Your successes, your failures,
Your strengths, your weaknesses,
Your heart, your soul,
Your living legacy.
They are in fact,
God's greatest gift
Forever extending
Through their blessed life,
Echoing out from yours
And every soul that
Ever came before,

And so, on and on it extends.

Gather your young
To hold them close,
So they might know fully
How strong is your love.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
