    Poem Commentary

For all of those who have ever had a love that was both the best and worst of both worlds and the regrets of the loss of that love.

    Gone

At night when the pain's the deepest and the tears
    streak down my face.
I try to imagine myself in your arms, in a better
    time and place.

Sometimes you're like a whisper, at other times,
you're a scream heard in the dark.
But nothing can ever fill the void, that I have
    in my heart.

You were the best, the worst, my love, my curse.
    the reason that love lived.
You were the questions and the answers.
A little take and a lot of give.

Now time doesn't seem to matter, the world is
    standing still.
The hurt may fade for others, for me?
    it never will!

Gone are all our hopes and dreams, gone are all
    the plans we made.
Today, tomorrow and forever, is just a tear
    away.

You were my heartbeat and my shadow.
    the lines upon my face.
Now you are the emptyness, that no one can
    replace.

Memories and moments, the wind that fills
    my sail.
Everyday, I pass the minutes, everynight, I go through hell.

But, you were the best, the worst, my love, my curse.
    The reason that love lived.
You were the questions and the answers.
a little take, but what I wouldn't give!

Love leaves it mark on all that share it's warmth and it's chill when it goes wrong. We all can choose how we deal with its loss, mine has always been with poetry! Thanks as always for being so kind with your comments!

Thank you for the review and comment my friend, Love can be a fickled thing, one minute it's the greatest thing you've ever experienced. the next minute, it can tear your heart out. glad you enjoyed the read!

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
