Grandpa

Grandpa

His crown is won and his robe is white.
He is in the light of the Lords’ smile, bright.
All troubles are gone, because he knelt & prayed
Jesus mercifully washed the sins of life away.

His foundation was strong that he built his life on.
With a spectacular heart bursting with love strong,
he raised his family on this faith, steadfast to belong.
Shared tears and laughter the music of life’s song.

Toiled by the sweat of his brow and morals for glue.
Along with a wife that was loving, loyal and true;
they brought up six children and lost two.
And grandchildren counting more than a few.

Blessed to have his love and guidance in trials and troubles.
My heart he directed; burdens lifted returning joyful bubbles.
I Love You and Miss our shared conversations by doubles.
I cherish the love you bestow our hearts forever coupled.

I like how you tied in the generational concepts that made this generation of people so strong.

What a great & loving tribute to your grandfather! He would have been so very proud to know that his grand daughter could write something like this about him.

A delightful and loving memorial in words and poetic verse by the poet to one dearly loved and missed. Well done.

thank you for reading and I sorry you didn't get to know yours.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
