Guardian Soldiers

Guardian Soldiers

This darkness
it comes and goes.
At the climax of my happiness,
while I'm basking in the light,
I am reminded of what once was
and what will soon be.
These memories
plunge me back into the nothingness.
Like a roller coaster,
it takes so long to rise to the top
and is so easily brought back down.
Acceptance is crucial
but not simple.
To cope with something so fickle
would be a task beyond my means.
My mind,
My emotions,
they're never at peace.
And my last hope
of being happy
is withering and dying.
So i stare off this precipice
and ponder the thrashing waves below.
Their perplexing complexity,
their blissful simplicity.
How I yearn to be one with them.
So i leap off this cliff to join them.
Their soothing radiance
stops my bleeding and heals my scars.
Our raging torrents meet and dance.
They sway and collide
until neither move.
Both of us calmed,
I float on the brink.
As I lie here,
fatigued and downtrodden,
I can't help but contemplate.
I question the motives,
the actions,
the emotions.
Are they real
or exaggerated by time's amplification?
Is it all a crescendo?
Can I trust my own reality
or is my past bereft of anything?
Have i over dramatized my memories?
Is my life a deceit?
These questions,
like a barrage of raindrops on this sea
cause ripples in my sanity.
Ripples that augment into a whirlpool
which drags me down into the trench.
As the darkness encroaches
I resist the impending juggernaut.
But it's influence,
it's overwhelming power
is too much for me to handle alone.
And just before I reach the crushing pressure
and my lungs are flooded
I sense my guardians,
I feel their contact.
The pressure is relieved
and i feel the air.
They raise me out of certain death
and up into pure ecstasy.
Up there we stay,
as if on wings.
Our unity,
our bond
is everlasting.
And when there is a fallen one among us
we come together to elate them
and bring them back into the light.

beatifuly put. it will show how some poeple could seance the unknown world

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
