    Hibernation Blues

    When you feel so worn out

    And just sit on the sofa and pout,

    Close your sleepy eyes and

    Start counting some sheep;

    The world is so crazy it seems

    And you can’t think of any good dreams,

    Shut off the t.v.

    And read a book;

    You can’t get him off your mind

    Because bad love is always blind,

    Read a dirty magazine and

    Call me in the morning;

    It’s so goddamn cold outside

    And your demons won’t let you hide,

    Grab the bottle and drink

    Yourself into oblivion;

    In spite of your pretentious grace

    I can see right through your face,

    If you really want to go to sleep

    Then let me out of this conversation so deep;

    You hear the alarm ring out

    In the early morning dark,

    Rollover sleepy eyed and

    Fall right out of bed;

    Jump in the shower and let

    Cold water open your tired eyes,

    If that doesn’t work then why

    Not try banging your head?

    Swallow your past regrets with

    Some sugar coated cereal and milk,

    Lean over and whisper

    What your sin is;

    Don’t bother about work,

    Call in sick and sleep in,

    Why support someone else’s

    Sorry assed business?

    Go ahead and take a three-day weekend,

    It’s your right to sleep that you defend,

    If you really want some shut eye,

    Than you’ll never know until you try;

    Jump back in the sack,

    I don’t scratch and bite

    And I don’t want to fuss and fight,

    Just roll over on your back

    And let me give you a heart attack,

    What’s life all about if

    We can’t roll in the hay?

    So I’m a little too honest,

    All my thoughts have gone east,

    I’m not trying to sound cheap

    But let’s get sweaty than go to sleep,

    I’m so goddamn tired

    But my libido is up and fired,

    Drop your clothes to the floor

    And we’ll shut the world outside the door,

    You can’t beat a full eight hours of sleep

    After letting me into your love so deep!

    I thought of this as mundane but in the very best way. It was everday happenings but together haphazardly but they all fit so well and I think we have all had one or two of these thoughts at one time or another. at first I thought bored with life, then I thought sick of life and finally concluded tired, just tired from life.

    It's an older poem. Just some nutty idea about not being able to get enough sleep then it turned into some joking sexual romp. I'm not sure how it happened but it sounded funny so I continued writing. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

    My goodness I just got done with your rage in another post and now I find another on hibernating. Let me give you a word of advice...maybe you should put that cork back on the bottle and get rid of that sugar coated cereal. And, come on man, your too intelligent to bellieve being too honest gives you the blues.....get active and participate in something worthwhile...like lending a hand getting this fukking screwed up nation back in to the peace mode and getting society back to ending the war that has been going on since the early nineteenth century...so bud don't shirk your duty to get this nation run by insanity to the sanity mode for the coming generation..you see that's honesty dylan..........

    LOL ... forget the nooner ... this is a whole new take on the pickup line ...

    Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
