Holy Saturday – with fervent hope

    Everything comes to an end

with the death of Jesus, our Savior

    but his promise of resurrection

    would bring salvation to completion.

    Humanity shows their bereavement

    nature seems grieving in silence

Jesus, the Lord, is dead in the flesh

however, faith tells of his return to life.

    Jesus descends to the dead

to search for those in darkness

perhaps Adam and Eve, our first parents

are recipients of his light – eternal life.

He’ll ask them to rise from sleep

for the gift of light is needed

it may not be that same paradise

but in heaven where one gets his share.

‘Tis the gift of God’s kingdom

to dwell in his house forever

the new Jerusalem, a metaphor to his home

where one partakes of his divine nature.

Stories of faith are really diverse

    some teachings are quite progressive

but with the influence of other sources

we get aligned to what is fundamental.

Soon the church bells toll in glory

Jesus is risen; the cause of triumph

    community celebrates with great attendance

exploring God’s promise of a new creation.

Life’s cycle from darkness to light

life’s attitude from death to life

they’re images of what life is all about

until we reach the spring of eternal life.

Very nicely done. I am not a religious person but even I can feel the sincerity in your convictions without feeling threatened by fanaticism. Had not biblical characters been incorporated into this I could have felt that any religion could embrace it or even "science only" believers liken it to our oneness with the universe..I enjoyed this very much. Thank you.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
