HOME RUN (c) Copyright 2009

Sixty seconds and counting
The tension is mounting
Crowd on their feet
Announcers don't miss a beat

It's going, going...
1st base, quickening pace
Around the bend to 2nd place

Going...
3rd in sight
One with the wind and taking flight

Gone...
And the crowd goes wild
It's out of the park!
No foul

It's pandemonium in the dome
As Player of the Day slides into home.

Wonderful poem. my daughter a baseball fan really loves it. baseball is my least favorite sport but the excitement is still there when someone hits a home run.

I don't really like baseball either. It was a challenge, so I thought I'd give it a try. Thanks for reading!

Another great poem. You sure do have a way of grabbing the reader's attention. I love sports poems. This captures the excitement of a homerun in such few words. Very clever well conceived. Have you read my poem A Legend's Final At Bat? It's more of a story poem and is considerably longer but does seem to grab people's attention. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent again.... Kevin

This is a wonderful poem written on a very unique theme. Most sports fans could appreciate you use of the game of baseball to deliver your poem. I love it.

Yeah, I hope baseball fans like it. Not my favorite sport by a longshot, but it was a poetry challenge that I felt I could write a pretty good poem on at that time. Thanks for reading.

tx for reading, ws... too bad i'm not a true baseball fan, i just rose to the challenge in the poetry forums and wrote on the chosen topic, but the poem must've been effective if you thought i had "nice baseball spirit." ;-) thanx again.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
