Hope through the pain

Hope through the pain

It wasn't what you did to me as a child.
Or the times I laid awake prepared.
Waiting for your snore so I can sleep in safety.

You my Galiath , I took upon my body your anger.
I fought back the pain and prayed to endure.
Blood and sweat run down my brow.
I am only a baby wearing a frown.

You great in your power so you thought,
But what happened when I told ?
Did you get  a little distraught.?
Did your anger make you bold?

Decades of terrorism behind closed doors
You evil bastard you have beaten me to the floor!

How much fear volted through your veins.
Did it compare to the years of inflicted pain.
Did it make your knees weak in anticipation?

My character is branded with your stains.
My childhood was never... how  can I explain.
When healthy kids laughed and played.
My heart was aching in shool I wanted to stay.

At sixteen you took your last shot at me.
Causing my anger to move and take you down.
You Galiath are now a clown.

Out of safety I thought I would be fine.
But the years of pain and hurt run through my mind.

The older I get the worse it seems.
I don't harbor any pipe dreams.
The older I get the worst it seems.
But with divine love there is hope in my dreams.

Having been through similar circumstances myself I can say that there is light at the end of the tunnel after having experienced something like this.Sometimes we just need to connect with other people who understand and can help us rebuild our confidence. Thank you for sharing this well written poem about such a painful experience.I pray that your heart will heal from this experience and that love and compassion will remain with you. Terry
