Human Restraint

Human Restraint

human restraint

is what it will take.

to balance our needs,

against all the needs,

of the rest of the lives on this planet.

with deforestation and habitat loss,

there’s a payment for over population,

and mass extinction of other species is the cost.

human restraint

is what it will take.

we scatter our seeds,

while extinguishing breeds,

of the rest of the lives on this planet.

we waste and consume fertile lands of Great Mother.

our propagation causes loss of life and of habitat for others.

when will mankind finally acknowledge the destruction

caused by its over indulgence and self proclaimed privilege to annihilate?

human restraint

is what it will take.

or nature will smite us

and set things to right,

for the rest of the lives on this planet.

Yeah very true...If we can't change the trend of modernity which we consumed and lovingly indulge with the price of nature, well...we can at least restrained our greedy impulses...

If we don't put our excesses in check, somebody or something will come along to do it for us, huh? Ha ha (You'll notice that this is nervous laughter).

Bad habits are difficult to break. As a person leads by one example at a time, change comes so slowly.

You are a true naturalist [ and a great poet as well]. Praises on all your poems [ which I have become addicted to], and especially "Fairies". You have truely humbled this young poet. If ever you have the time, please, by all mean, give me your opinion on my young poetry [ English Sonnet I and Italian Sonnet I].

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
