    Poem Commentary

    I guess this is the closest way of telling you all why I chose this name... Hope you understand.

    i AM still here...

    So one day,
    a little girl was playing,
    in the grass,
    with the flowers,
    one tucked
    behind
    her
    ear...
    The next she placed
    the flower,
    small and dead,
    in her father's
    cold hand,
    as her mom says
    Im
    still
    here...

    She grew to be strong,
    living through
    her parents,
    the violence,
    all
    the
    years...
    Every time
    he knocked her down,
    she would
    get back up,
    dust off,
    and whisper
    Im
    still
    here...

    So when she's old,
    back bent,
    eyes gone,
    yet,
    you know,
    how her soul
    though
    streaked with strife
    and
    too much
    sadness
    to
    bear...

    She will stand up straight
    and say,
    with her head held high...
    Im
    Still
    Here...

    Like the Sondheim tune with a similar title, your poem is a testament to endurance and survival. A very nice write.

    Oh the strength and grit that is written throughout this piece and this quote from the movie Independence Day comes to mind when I read this We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive!" . So you just continue on i AM still here... Stand strong young one stand strong
