    Poem Commentary

    A little reticent to write this one because it is personal and true. I just wanted to thank Regina for sharing her story, which is way more graphic. It helped me to see I am not alone and that really means a lot to me.

    I CHOOSE

    RAPED, MISTREATED, AND ABUSED.
    I CHOOSE.
    I CHOOSE TO BE FREE OF THE MONSTERS WHO RAPED ME.
    I CHOOSE TO BE FREE OF THOSE WHO MISTREATED ME.
    I CHOOSE TO BE FREE OF THOSE WHO ABUSED ME.
    I CHOOSE.
    I CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY AND CAREFREE.
    I CHOOSE NOT TO LET MY MEMORIES ENSLAVE ME.
    I CHOOSE TO LIVE.
    I CHOOSE TO BE.
    I CHOOSE TO LOVE.
    I CHOOSE MY GOD ABOVE.
    I CHOOSE.
    YOU NEVER TOOK MY CHOICE.
    YOU NEVER TOOK MY VOICE.
    I CHOOSE.
    THERE ARE NO VICTIMLESS CRIMES.
    I CHOOSE TO ARREST MY MIND AND NOT LET
    IT BE SUSPENDED IN TIME.
    I CHOOSE.
    I CHOOSE TO MOVE FORWARD.
    I CHOOSE MY LIFE.
    I CHOOSE TO BE A WIFE.
    I CHOOSE TO BE A MOTHER.
    I CHOOSE.
    I CHOOSE TO BE MINDFUL.
    I CHOOSE TO BE JOYFUL.
    I CHOOSE.
    I CHOOSE TO GIVE.
    I CHOOSE TO LIVE.
    I CHOOSE TO BE OPEN.
    I CHOOSE TO BE FREE.
    FINALLY, I AM BECAUSE I CHOSE PRAYERFULLY.

    very powerful indeed....sometimes we need to set affirmations in life to remind us of our choices and how they play out in the grand plan of who we want to be.
