I Remember

I remember how your soft skin touched mine,

Your warm breath I could feel on my cheek,

I felt so happy I couldn’t speak.

Your long hair flowed in the low light,

Shadows were bouncing along the walls,

I wish I could be there every time daylight falls.

I remember that we laughed together,

Your smile drew me in,

Never to be forgotten.

I caused you to cry and drink or smoke,

Not sure how to say that I’m sorry,

I never wanted that to be the end of the story.

Months and months, almost a year,

We’ve not spoken in such a long time,

Only to apologise with a rhyme.
