I want it all

Poem Commentary

Don't fret. This is meant to be paradoxical.

I want it all

I want my cake, the icing
      the kit, the caboodle
The whole nine yards
      and to eat it too

I want to use a cliché
          and to be original
To take on lovers
          and to be faithful

To not covet possessions
Yet not share what's in my pocket
To be meek and humble
and to be proud of it

To be naked
          yet feel at ease
To feel as if I belong
yet come and go as I please

To focus on my desires
       while being unselfish
Caring about other’s needs
      while eating my shellfish

To have my luxuries
      and to feed the poor
I want peace
            worth fighting for

To contemplate silence
             in a psych hospital
I F-ing want it all!
            Can it be possible?

Oh this jumps out at me from so many levels . It just oozes sarcasm and this line is the one that brings out the insanity of thinking we can have it all or even worse that we are entitled to having it all (To take on lover and to be faithful).

You know what's funny about this piece, this is the general attitude of many. They want to be thought of as generous, yet never lend a hand, etc.... Great write - 10 from me

The answer to your question lies in "Could you handle it" if you would ever have it all? :)) An impressive metaphorical content. I appreciate the effort you invested into this great piece!

It is a question that everyone should ask themselves. My first thought for a title was Impossibly possible. No, I don't think it is possible to take on lovers yet be faithful. To be humble and be proud of it etc.. Today's society wants it all. Thank you for you comment. -Moot
