    I Will Be Strong

    My tears-
    bitter are these,
    that fall within
    the night.
    Hidden from those
    a tool for use-
    to batter me down

    A whim,
    but for a moment-
    reflected in the eyes
    that see into tomorrow
    beyond their shield of lies.

    I cannot give
    my trust away
    to those I do not know.
    Cold and empty
    without repentence;
    or so the story goes.

    This life we live
    is not easy-
    the path is steep
    and long.
    And just beyond the horizone
    dances the rewards
    we have worked
    so hard for.

    Alone
    I'll travel my journey
    without a guiding light.
    For within this dream
    only I can see
    and reach my home
    this time.

    To cry but not to break......perhaps? To slip, but not to fall...? I like the line [I cannot give my trust away to those I do not know] making them earn it. The lonely work hard for their reward indeed. Perhaps it is what keeps them going. Or perhaps it is the only road they know.
