    Identity

You’re you, and you can be whoever you want to be.
You’re you, spread your wings and just be free.
You’re you, never be filled with hollow sorrow.
For you’re the you that can change tomorrow.

It’s a lonesome place without an identity.
Reveal yourself and show your supremacy.
Outdo yourself in every lively possibility.
Lastly, be yourself that can support a democracy.

You’re you, the you that can change for the better.
You’re you, the you than can help in every matter.
You’re you, the you that lets people have someone to admire.
For you’re the you that can extinguish the hellish fires.

It’s a twisted world, filled with confusion.
A world with no honor, packed with intrusions.
A world so icy, depressing and cold.
Know yourself, and all will eventually be restored.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
